Transit time is ours. Clearance is not.

International and domestic delivery for handwoven Sumba cloth. Every route below quotes a transit range, and every route is subject to customs clearance in your country on top of it — assessed by your own authority, not by us. Conflating the two is how delivery dates get missed.

Why textile freight is priced on space, not weight

Textiles are light for their volume, so freight cost is usually driven by the space a consignment occupies rather than by what it weighs. That single fact should shape your choice of route more than any other.

  • A large wall panel and a box of cushion covers can weigh the same and cost very differently to ship.
  • We recommend a route based on your volume and deadline rather than defaulting to the cheapest — a late delivery into a retail season costs more than the freight saving.
  • All orders ship with a tracking number, and insurance is available where the consignment value makes cover worthwhile.

Which route suits which order?

Four routes

Transit ranges below are time in the carrier’s hands. Customs clearance in the destination country is additional and is assessed by your own authority, so build both into any deadline you are working to.

Courier, express

Typical transit

3–5 business days international

Best for

Samples and single pieces where speed matters more than unit cost

Note

Fastest route, highest cost per piece

Courier, standard

Typical transit

10–14 business days to most international destinations; 5–7 within South-East Asia

Best for

Single pieces and small orders with no fixed date

Note

The economical choice when you are not in a hurry

Air freight

Typical transit

Quoted per consignment

Best for

Mid-size orders, seasonal stock and firm launch dates

Note

Priced on volume rather than weight

Sea freight, consolidated

Typical transit

Quoted per consignment

Best for

Larger wholesale orders where the timeline allows

Note

Economical at volume; plan well ahead of a selling season

Domestic delivery within Indonesia — Jakarta, Bali and other cities — typically runs 1–2 days. Published transit ranges are carrier estimates and exclude clearance.

How a piece is protected in transit

Handwoven cotton has two enemies in transit: trapped moisture and hard folding. Both are prevented at packing rather than repaired on arrival.

  1. 01

    Rolled, not folded

So no permanent crease line is pressed into the cloth during weeks under compression.

  2. 02

    Breathable wrap

Rather than sealed plastic, which traps the humidity that causes mould marks.

  3. 03

    Rigid outer carton

So nothing is crushed in stacking.

  4. 04

    Moisture absorbent

Inside larger consignments, with an outer barrier against rain handling.

  5. 05

    Numbered and listed

Each carton cross-referenced to the packing list, so a partial delivery can still be reconciled.

What travels with the piece — and what does not

Every piece ships with a written description: technique, dye family, fibre, measured dimensions and the weaving region within Sumba. That description appears on the quotation, the invoice and the packing list without drifting, so a customs officer, a customer and a reseller are all reading the same facts.

What does not travel with it is a certificate of authenticity. No recognised body certifies handwoven Sumba cloth, so such a document would carry only our own authority — which is exactly why we treat sellers who issue them with caution, and why we do not.

What we can arrange on request

Tell us at enquiry stage rather than after the order is confirmed, since most of these change how a piece is packed.

  1. 01

    Gift packaging

Presentation packing where a piece is being sent as a gift.

  2. 02

    Delivery instructions

Specific delivery windows or handling requirements, coordinated with the carrier.

  3. 03

    Consolidation

Holding pieces until a shipment reaches an efficient size — each item still listed separately.

  4. 04

    Bulk arrangements

Cartons packed by line item so receiving staff can check against the packing list without unfolding stock.
